BYU George Hansen Fellowship Scholarship

This award is available to incoming freshmen who enroll as geology, environmental geology, or earth and space science education majors at BYU.  This fellowship usually covers a significant portion of the recipient’s tuition costs. Candidates may apply for university scholarships separately.

1. Must be a graduating high school senior.
2. Must enroll as a geology, environmental geology, or earth and space education major.
3. Must continue in one of these majors according to a progressive program.
4. Must maintain at least a 3.3 grade-point average.
5. Must abide by all BYU standards of conduct.

1. Submit two letters of recommendation from teachers concerning academic qualifications.
2. Submit a letter stating desire to pursue a geology career and why you believe you qualify for the fellowship.
3. Submit a copy of high school transcripts.

All applications are due by February 15th to the Department of Geology. A faculty committee will screen applications and select the awardee(s). Awards will be announced on or before April 1st.
