Paradigm High

Here are our announcements for the week:

  • Movie Night! This Friday November 8th will be movie night for all high school students! We will be showing The Sandlot in the gym at 7:00 pm. Students may wear modest casual clothing and can bring pillows and blankets. There will be candy, popcorn, and homemade root beer! Best of all? This activity is FREE! See you there!
  • Student Congress is looking for donations for movie night. If you would like to donate, we are looking for popcorn kernels, popcorn poppers (we will return them to you), and any leftover packaged Halloween candy! Please contact the front office if you would like to donate. All donations can be counted toward your volunteer hours for the school year. We also need a couple of parent chaperones, so if you are interested in helping, please let us know.
  • Come to Service Club! We meet every Tuesday from 3:00 to 3:45 in room #142. If you love to serve, we'd love to see you!
  • ACT Prep Tool: Every high school student in Utah now has free, unlimited, and secure access to Shmoop's ACT and PLAN test prep. The ACT/PLAN test prep includes individualized dashboards for each student, teacher tracking, and plenty of practice exams and drills. Instructions for opening an account are below:
    • Visit www.shmoop.com/utah/
    • Find your high school from the alphabetzed school picker
    • Click "Let's Go"
    • Answer "Yes" if you have ever created a Shmoop account for yourself. Answer "No" if you haven't.
    • Enter student magic word: ARCHES and create your username and password
    • Welcome to the world o' la Shmoop! Click on "My Profile" to navigate to "Test Prep Passes" and begin practicing for the ACT/PLAN test prep.
  • Let's dance! Come to the New Paradigm Social Dance Club! Starting this Thursday at 3:00 pm in the east half of the gym! Learn ballroom dance (swing, waltz, cha cha, and more) and vintage dancing as well (like in Pride and Prejudice!). Bring your friends and come meet new friends! Both Prep and High school students are welcome! Whether you love social dance and would simply like to sharpen your skills, learn more, and enjoy dancing with others who share your passion; or whether you are completely new to social dance and not quite sure if dance is for you, come join us! Swing you there!
  • If you ordered a Paradigm Jacket around or before October 15th, your order is now available in the front office.
  • Graduates! Now is the time to apply for college! Priority deadlines and scholarship deadlines are quickly approaching. If you have any questions, please come talk to Miss Larissa in the counseling office.
  • Mandatory Academic Decathlon meeting today (Monday) after school in room 205. We will be discussing district at Bingham.
  • Tunes at Noon this Wednesday under the stairs. All are welcome!
  • Dance Concert Auditions are TODAY (Monday)! Come to the gym right after school. We want to see all forms of dance to demonstrate in our performance that will be on November 19th. Come see Mrs. Koch if you have any questions!
  • ACT Math Prep will be held Thursdays after school in room #202.
  • Mock Trial meets tomorrow at 3:00 pm in room #141. Come ready to get your case and start practicing!
  • The Outdoor Adventure Club is going hiking tomorrow (Tuesday), rain or shine! If you have turned in your permission slip, then you are coming. Come see Mrs. Cavallaro if you are not sure. All the spots are filled. Please meet us in the main office at 10:15 am, ready to go! It is going to be COLD, maybe even wet, so dress properly with hats, gloves, solid hiking shoes, warm layers, and a coat. We will be back at school at 1:30 pm, so please bring a sack lunch to eat at the top of the hike. See Mrs. Cavallaro with questions!
  • Attention Novel Writers and Wanna-be Novel Writers! Have you ever wanted to publish your own book and get 5 free copies to give away? This is your year! You can do it now and it all starts with Nanowrimo! Nanowrimo stands for "National Novel Writing Month" - which happens to be the month of November. To find out more details about the hows and ask any questions you might have, please come this Wednesday at 3:00 pm to the library. There are no fees or commitments - just the love of writing! See you there!
  • The 2nd edition of Yearbook Man is out. Read and meet the evil villain Forget Me Not and don't forget to buy a yearbook. You can buy online or in the office.
  • Many library books are overdue.  Please take care of your account as soon as possible. If you need a book a little longer, don't hesitate to renew your books. If you have any questions, please come see the librarians.
  • 1958: Puppy love, a grown-up mama's boy, rock and roll, and a disaster on national television! Come see Paradigm Theatre students as they perform "Bye Bye Birdie" at the Rose Wagner Theater. Be there or be square (which was a bad thing in the 50s)!
  • Students who wish to come to Shakespeare Club this Thursday need to pick-up a parental consent form in order to watch Much Ado About Nothing. Students can pick-up the form in room #103. It needs to be turned into Miss Stolzenburg (room #103) by Thursday at 2:45 pmNo exceptions. The movie, Much Ado About Nothing (1993 with Emma Thompson and Kenneth Branagh) is rated PG-13, but we will be using the filter Clearplay to filter all inappropriate content out of the movie. We will be watching the movie over the next two Thursdays. This film will count toward the Paradigm Shakespeare Challenge. Hope to see you there!
  • Driver's Ed with the Wright Driving School will begin tomorrow (Tuesday) at 3:30 pm in room #222. This is for all students who signed up for the November class.
