Paradigm High Announcements 11/11 - 11/15

posted Nov 12, 2013, 8:50 AM by Larissa Little
Here are our announcements for the week:

  • Social Dance Club this Thursday! We had a BLAST last week! This week we will be doing more swing steps. This will also be a fun way to get ready to enjoy the Family Ball on Friday! Come join us this Thursday at 3:00 pm on the east side of the gym!
  • The Outdoor Adventure Club is going hiking tomorrow. If you were on either of the original lists and want to go and haven't gotten a permission slip, we still have a spot for you. See Mrs. Cavallaro immediately after school to get a permission slip. We will leave promptly at 10:15 am, so be ready to depart at 10:15 am. Bring plenty of water, sack lunch, proper footwear (sneakers are okay), and layered outdoor clothing. It will warm up, but the start of the hike will be chilly so please plan accordingly. Questions, see Mrs. C.
  • Dance Concert next weekTuesday November 19th at 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm at the Rose Wagner Theatre (138 West 300 South). Free Admission - no tickets needed! We hope to see you there!
  • If any students need help with Math 3, Ms. Yermolova would be happy to help you Tuesdays after school in room #201.
  • The Paradigm High School Academic Decathlon Team is accepting new members for the 2014 competition year. Students compete both as a team and individually for medals in ten subject areas: Language & Literature, Mathematics, Economics, Social Science, Science, Art, Music, Speech, Interview, and Essay. They also compete for glory as a team in the Super Quiz competition (...think Jeopardy or Science Bowl). This is a nationwide competitive program and anyone interested can visit for more information. The theme this year is World War I. Any students interested in joining the team should contact Ms. Divis after school today. Students of all GPA levels and grade levels are welcome (NOTE: There is a definite need for students whose GPAs are below a 3.0). Students compete within their GPA category against students across the state. Students interested in joining the team should plan to participate in the District competition this Thursday November 14th at Bingham High School. There are three major competitions is 2014: Region Competition at Westminster on February 7th & 8th, the State Championship Competition at Dixie State University in March (TBD), and National Competition (online or in Hawaii) in April. Paradigm has built a strong Acadec tradition over the past five years. Paradigm was the top school in the Small School Division at the 2013 Utah State Championship Competition. This 1st place finish qualified Paradigm High School to compete in its first National Competition last year.
    • Currrent Acadec Members need to meet at Bingham High School this Thursday November 14th at 7:30 am for scrimmage.
  • Do you like science? Do you enjoy a challenge? Are you interested in earning college credit while still in high school? Come to the inaugural meeting of the AP Biology Club this Wednesday at 3:00 pm in room #206. We will be discussing a number of topics and you don't want to miss out. See Mr. Ensign if you have any questions.
  • We have our weekly Mock Trial meeting tomorrow at 3:00 pm in room #141. We'll be working on our cases and setting official trial dates for our practice trials. See you there!
  • Tunes at Noon this Wednesday under the stairs!
  • Bring Yearbook Man to justice and buy a yearbook now before it's too late! Buy online at the Paradigm website or in the office. Preserve your Paradigm memories!
  • If you went on an exotic vacation or had a really cool summer job, please contact Mrs. McCoy in the library. You just might get a spot on a cool page in the yearbook.
  • Your picture might make it into the yearbook. Download the Replay It app on your smart phone and start submitting photos for the yearbook.
  • 1958: Puppy love, a grown-up mama's boy, rock and roll, and a disaster on national television! Come see Paradigm Theatre students as they perform "Bye Bye Birdie" at the Rose Wagner Theater. Be there or be square (which was a bad thing in the 50s)!
