Dear Paradigm Families,

Here are our announcements for the week:

  • It's never too early to think about paying for college! CollegeWeekLive is hosting a free online event, Paying for College, this Thursday January 10th from 2 pm to 10 pm EST. You can log-in anytime during those hours to chat live with admissions officers from 200+ colleges and financial aid experts from the US Department of Education. You can learn how to uncover the best scholarship opportunities online, understand the difference between private and public scholarships, and access financial aid programs. There's a bonus! If you visit three colleges during the event, you'll automatically be entered to win the $2,500 Time is Money Scholarship! You can sign-up now at the following link:

  • The semester is drawing to a close and your library books are DUE! Please return any books you checked out during the semester. The fines will start going up next week so turn them in ASAP!
  • Many of you have asked if we have any more copies of Les Miserables  (unabridged hardback) available for the amazingly discounted price of $6.50. The answer is YES! We have a limited amount available. First come, first serve.
  • Speaking of Les Miserables, how is your reading coming? Are you stuck at the beginning, at Waterloo, or in the sewer? Mrs. McCoy says just keep reading because then you won't be able to put it down! Next week on Tuesday, we will be holding a Les Miserables Book Club before school at 7:30 am and at lunch. Please join us if you need questions answered or if you just want to talk with someone who is reading it too. We look forward to seeing you next Tuesday!
  • The price of the yearbook will go up after January 31st, so come purchase your copy today! You can pay $25 now and the rest later to reserve your copy!
  • Did you know that you can have your name engraved on your yearbook? This way your book won't get lost when you're passing it around to all of your friends on yearbook day! You can also put 4 extra pages with all of your own pictures sewn right into the back of your yearbook! It's only $15 and the deadline is also at the end of January. See Mrs. McCoy in the library for more info!
  • This Saturday is our Winter Formal! Tickets are $25 per couple or $15 per student and can be purchased during lunch in the lobby outside of the main office beginning on Tuesday. The dance will be held at the West Jordan Library (Viridian Events Center - 8030 South 1825 West) from 7 to 10 pm on Saturday January 12th. Dress is formal and must follow all Paradigm modesty standards. Hope to see you there!
  • This Friday's assembly is our annual Student Showcase. If you have a special accomplishment you would like to share with the student body, let a mentor know so we can add you to the program! We'd love to hear what you have written, practiced, and discovered this semester at Paradigm. All entries must be sponsored by a mentor, so talk to them ASAP! We're looking forward to the program!
  • This Friday is also the last day of the semester and we will be on a modified assembly schedule. Students will go to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd periods before attending the assembly. There will be no 4th and 5th periods on Friday. Students will be dismissed at 12:05 pm.

Have a great last week of the semester!
