Dear Paradigm Families,

Here are our announcements for the week:

  • This announcement is for all seniors and graduating juniors: Jostens will be here TOMORROW (Tuesday January 29th) to pick-up your graduation orders during lunch. Don't forget! If you need an order packet, please come to the main office.
  • Slow Jam (aka the Blues Jam) this Wednesday in room #106. Tunes at Noon under the stairs this Friday!
  • This is an exciting week for chess at Paradigm! Paradigm is hosting a chess tournament on Saturday February 2nd for all students from all over the state. Information is available in room #219 for any student who would like to play in the tournament. If there are any parents, students, or classes that would like to help set-up, running the tournament, and/or clean-up, please talk to Mr. Clark in room #219. Chess Club will be held as usual this Tuesday in room #222 and Thursday in room #219 this week!
  • For all those students who want to get an Honor credit in Math 2, please see Ms. Yermolova. The packages are ready!
  • Due to lack of attendance, the Math ACT Prep Class has been cancelled. We will try again next year. For the 3 students who have been attending, Mrs. Divis and Mr. Rogers have worksheets for you to pick-up and will work with you one on one whenever you want.
  • Mock Trial season has begun! All those in Mock Trial Club come to room #223 after school today to discuss the case. Mock Trial will continue to meet every day this week from 3 to 4. See you there!
  • This Friday, February 1st, kicks off a month of Penny Wars! For this fun fundraiser, each core class needs to choose their jar that will hold their funds. The core class with the most change in their jars by the end of the month gets to donate all of the money raised to the charity of their choice! More rules will be posted on Thursday. We look forward to seeing all of you on the battlefield!
  • We need to sell 31 more yearbooks by this Thursday January 31st! If we sell that many, then we will host a dance party during lunch! Woo hoo! Time is running out to order a copy of the 2013 yearbook. To GUARANTEE your copy, all orders must be placed by the end of the day on January 31st. You can purchase them online through Paradigm's website or in the main office. If you would like to put $25 down and pay the rest later, please pay the front office. This is your last chance! Last year we sold out and many students were left without a book.
  • Got personalization? Time is also running out to personalize your yearbook. You can engrave your name on the front oyour book or even add 4 of your own personal pages for $15.
  • Students, your first semester library books are now overdue! Many of them were due last Friday. You will not be allowed to check out books for this semester if you did not return last semester's books. Please return your books!
  • Attention students who are signed up to go snowshoeing with the Outdoor Adventure Club on Thursday: Please make sure you have the following items with you or you will not be able to join us - winter boots, warm socks, hat and gloves, snow pants, winter jacket, and sack lunch. If you do not have any of those items, please see Mrs. Cavallaro immediately so we can help you find proper gear. Please stay tuned for the announcement on Wednesday confirming our trip. There is a chance that we will have to reschedule because of snowy weather in the forecast. Questions? See Mrs. Cavallaro.
  • Anyone planning on participating in the American Mathematics Contest (AMC) next Tuesday: We will have an important meeting at lunch this Friday. Please meet in Mrs. Divis' and Mrs. Morris' room (#203) this Friday at the beginning of lunch to fill out your name and other info on the answer sheets. This meeting is mandatory, unless you make other arrangements with Mrs. Morris ahead of time (Mr. Rogers' Calculus students will be filling them out during class on Friday). If you have not yet signed up for the AMC, but would like to, come to the meeting at lunch on Friday for your last chance to sign up. The AMC is next Tuesday during 1st and 2nd periods.

This last announcement is regarding school closures due to inclement weather or emergencies:

  • From our Student Handbook 2012-2013 (p. 33): Paradigm will follow Jordan School District with regard to school closures due to inclement weather or emergencies. If school for Jordan District is cancelled, school at Paradigm will also be cancelled.Parents and students may receive this information between 6:00-8:00 am through all local TV news and radio outlets. School closures will also be posted by 6:30 am on Jordan School District's website: Since students come from all over the valley to Paradigm, parents are ultimately responsible for deciding whether the weather is too dangerous to come to school. Also, if we are able to (power outages or emergencies may prevent us from doing so), we will send notification through our SchoolMessenger system, which will contact you via the phone and e-mail contacts you have provided Paradigm, and we will post all school closures on our website (

Have a great week!
