Dear Paradigm Families,
Here are our announcements for the week:
- Please be aware that this is an important week for Finals in many of your classes. If you are absent, there is a chance you could miss something and fail a class. The last day of school isn't until Friday May 31st, so please make sure you are here and present for all of your classes.
- IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR SENIORS:
- This Wednesday May 22nd is our MANDATORY Graduation Rehearsal for all seniors and graduation juniors who plan to walk in our Graduation Ceremony on Friday May 31st. Rehearsal will begin at 3:00pm and should last about an hour, depending on how willing and compliant everyone is. You will receive your cap and gown and graduation tickets on Wednesday.
- We will be selling any extra Graduation Tickets that we have this Friday May 24th at 12:00 noon. These tickets are $3.00 each and will be sold on a first come, first serve basis. There will be a 5 extra ticket per student limit. If you have extra tickets that you will not be using, please return them to the office by Friday morning. Please know that these tickets are for seats, but anyone who shows up without a ticket will be directed to the standing room area.
- Please come and pick-up a Graduation Checklist from the front office if you haven't already. These checklists are due THIS Friday and you will not be able to participate in Graduation Ceremony if this checklist is not complete or turned in.
- We are collecting CURRENT senior photos for the slideshow for Graduation. These are due to Larissa (llittle@paradigmhigh.org) by tomorrow. If we do not receive a photo from you, we will just use your senior yearbook photo.
- Next week is Senior Days!
- If you signed-up to help with the Senior Service Project, please plan on arriving at 9:00am on Tuesday May 28th. Please come in appropriate clothes that can get dirty. Jeans are OK. We will work until about 2:00pm. Please bring a lunch!
- Those going to Lagoon need to be at Paradigm ready to leave at 8:15am on Wednesday May 29th. We will return by 5:00pm.
- If you did not sign-up for either of these activities, seniors are welcome to take it easy and stay home both days as we will not be taking roll for seniors. If you do choose to come to school, you need to be in class and in dress code.
- This announcement is for all students: There is a very long list of students in the office window who still owe school fees. Please check this list to see if your name is on it. We will be creating class schedules in June and if you still have any outstanding school fees, overdue library books, and/or if you are not enrolled for next year, you will not have a schedule created for you. Please take care of these things before you leave for summer vacation!
- Also, if you ordered a yearbook, please check the office window to make sure your name is on the yearbook list.
- This Tuesday, the Paradigm Symphony will be performing their final concert of the year. We will be performing a lot of great music and movie soundtracks such as James Bond, Star Wars, and Journey's Greatest Hits. The concert begins at 7pm this Tuesday at Paradigm and admission is free! We look forward to seeing you there!
- Blues Jam this Wednesday in room #106 during lunch and Tunes at Noon this Friday under the stairs!
- A reminder that this Friday May 24th is the Paradigm Student Art Show from 6:00-8:00pm at Paradigm. Come and see some fantastic art!
- Your library books are now overdue. They were due last Friday. Please turn them in before your fines become insurmountable. You won't graduate, you won't get your yearbook, and you won't be able to register for classes next year without turning them in.
- The yearbook arrived last Friday! It looks totally amazing. If you haven't bought your book yet, please buy it online or in the office for $55. Take a sneak peek at our fabulous book on the posters in the hall. Buy your yearbook today!
- Talent Show applications are due this Wednesday! Please come pick one up in the front office today if you are interested.

Dear Parents,
As a precaution to the events that have unfolded the past couple of days with the reported cases of MRSA, we have decided to cancel school tomorrow, Friday April 26th. We have scheduled a thorough sanitation and cleaning of our building tonight and it is best for this sanitizer to sit for 48 hours. Normally when we cancel school, we are required to make up the day later in the year. Since we are already so late in the school year, we have decided to just give an assignment for students to work on while they're at home tomorrow in order to make up this day. Students should read the attached assignment and write a one-page response to it. All responses should be turned into the front office Monday morning and those students will be counted for attendance for Friday April 26th. School will resume again on Monday April 29th. Monday will be a B Day and we will follow tomorrow's planned Assembly Schedule and hold our Student Body Officer Assembly and Elections that day. We appreciate your patience and understanding on this matter. Again, please be vigilant in encouraging your student to practice good hygiene and to wash their hands while at school.
Thank you,
Paradigm Administration |

Dear Paradigm Families,
Here are our announcements for the week:
(These first few announcements are specific to parents)
- Dear Parents: It has been brought to our attention that some parents are concerned that the addition of the 7th and 8th grades will reduce course offerings for next year's high school students. We want to assure that that this is not the case. We are very aware of the limited course offering inherent in a small school and we are doing everything we can to maintain options for our students. During the summer, we plan to build and add classrooms for high school use. This, along with a few minor scheduling changes, will allow us to offer just as many classes next year as this year. If you have questions, please feel free to contact any member of administration; you can e-mail Chris Johnson or Troy Henke at chrisjohnson@paradigmhigh.org and thenke@paradigmhigh.org. Thank you.
- This Wednesday April 17th we are hosting a Parent Meeting for those who have an incoming 7th or 8th grader and those interested in our Academy Program. The meeting will be held at Paradigm High School and will be from 7:00-8:30pm. Please RSVP office@paradigmhigh.org if you plan on attending.
- This Saturday we are pleased to host a special event at our school. Oliver DeMille, author of A Thomas Jefferson Education, will be using our facility for a TJEd 2013 Spring Seminar. TJEd has greatly influenced our methods of education and if you are interested in learning more about it or attending the seminar ($75 per person), here is a link that will help: http://www.tjed.org/2013/04/oliver-demille-speaking-tour/
- Paradigm High Student Gallery is in need of 8 parent volunteers any time from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm on Thursday April 25th. All we need is to hand out and collect voting ballots. This is a great way to get some volunteer hours! Please contact Laren Bateman at lbateman@paradigmhigh.org if you would like to help.
- We are also in need of parent volunteers for Senior Days! We need help Tuesday May 28th, Wednesday May 29th, and Thursday May 30th. If you would like to help, please contact office@paradigmhigh.org to sign-up!
- Attention Seniors! Tomorrow (Tuesday April 16th) is the last day to sign-up for the Senior Days activities! The Service Project sign-up is on Ms. Hanson's door and you can sign-up for Lagoon Day and the Murder Mystery Dinner during lunch tomorrow. The cost for Lagoon is $35 and the cost for the Murder Mystery Dinner is $15. Please see Ms. Hanson if you have any questions!
- This week is Music Recruitment week! All you have to do to be in a music class next year is register for one! No previous singing or instrument playing is necessary. Mrs. Steinmann and Mrs. Mason will be holding auditions to help you determine which class you will be most comfortable in. Music is awesome! This Tuesday, after school, there will be a cookie giveaway and an instrument petting zoo in the choir and band rooms. Choir auditions will start Wednesday after school and continue into next week. There will be an assembly this Friday to highlight all of the fun music classes we have at Paradigm. Get involved in music!
- Tunes at Noon supports Music Recruitment Week! We are jamming every day this week either in the Band/Orchestra room or the Choir room. Come celebrate music with us! Tuesday will be French Canadian, Wednesday Blues Jam, Thursday Old Time and Bluegrass, and Friday we will mix it up with a little bit of everything!
- Come see On Broadway, Paradigm's end-of-year dance concert showcase, featuring the best of Paradigm's ballet, ballroom, jazz, hip hop and lyrical talent. This show is FREE at 7 pm on Thursday May 9th at Riverton High School! This is a one-time only show, so you definitely don't want to miss it!
- Due to the abduction of so many knights, rooks, bishops, pawns, and queens last week, there will be no Chess Club this week. Chess Club will resume next week pending the release of those pieces.
- Seniors! This is an important announcement, so listen up! All outside credit is due by Friday May 3rd! That's almost two weeks away! Please make sure you are all caught up on your credits for graduation and that you are passing all of the classes you are in currently. If you have any questions or concerns, please see Mrs. Amani or Larissa in the counseling office.
- There are limited number of yearbooks available. Don't wait until the last minute to buy yours since we ran out well before the last day of school last year. Only $55 and youcan purchase yours online or in the main office.
- Yearbook Staff applications are due! Please turn yours into the library today!
- Les Miserables Book Club is meeting tomorrow during lunch. Please come! The discussion is very fun and enlightening. We'll see you at noon tomorrow.
- Students! Don't forget to check out the many college scholarship opportunities that are listed on our website under the Counseling and Guidance tab. Larissa works very hard to keep you informed! In fact, there is an awesome scholarship opportunity from the University of Utah listed and the deadline is this Friday April 19th! Check it out! (www.paradigmhigh.org/scholarships)
- Thank you to all who returned their RSVPs or thought you were unable to attend, but find that you are now able, we would love to see you there anyway! Please remember that Sunday Dress is requested. A map will be drawn on Ms. Hanson's whiteboard should you need it. See you there!
- We want to congratulate and thank Greg Zitting for hosting Paradigm's Car Show where we raised over $1800 for the Utah Food Bank!
- Wanted: New Student Body President for the 2013-2014 school year! If you are interested in running for President, please come to the office to pick-up an application.
- Attention Juniors! We are now accepting applications for Senior Committee next year. This is a great way to get involved and help plan senior activities. Applications are available in the main office and are due this Friday.
Have a great week! Paradigm High School |

We will have a sign-up table near the office this Wednesday and Thursday during lunch. - Attention students young and old! Do you like to take pictures? Are you into design? Are you a photoshop guru? Are you a creative writer? Then the Yearbook Staff is for you! IT is a great way to get involved with the school. Plus, it's super fun! Applications can be found in the library and are due on Friday!
- Attention Juniors! We are looking for top-notch students to join the Senior Committee for next year! - Next week is Music Recruitment Week! We want you to be involved in music while at Paradigm, even if you feel like you're not musically talented. We can teach you how to sing or play an instrument! Please contact me if you are interested jsteinmann@paradigmhigh.org
- Choir Auditions will be held every day after school from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. April 17th to April 26th. - If you have received an invitation to the Junior/Senior Formal Tea and have not yet returned your RSVP card, please do so by Friday in the box available in the front office.
- Wow! Feast and Ball is around the corner! Feast and Ball will be held on Saturday May 11th at Thanksgiving Point. Please be aware of the following standard of dress for this very FORMAL occasion: FORMAL ATTIRE means the highest possible standard of apparel in every way. Elegance, sophistication, and grace are all words that indicate the quality of refinement expected at Feast and Ball. Ladies: ALL dresses must go to the floor. Dresses must have sleeves and must not be revealing in any way. Gentlemen: Formal attire is required and we encourage tuxedoes. If you can't rent a tux, then a suit jacket, tie, dress shirt, slacks, and dress shoes are required. We encourage formal attire from other time periods as well. If you should have any questions about your attire, please talk to Mr. Seminario or Ms. Hanson. Students will be sent home to change if their attire is not modest. Tickets will be sold Monday April 29th through Friday May 3rd during lunch. Tickets are $55 per student. Each ticket includes a buffet dinner, entrance to the Formal Gardens at Thanksgiving Point, a picture package, and the dance.
- Parents and Students: Following are a few places you can go to find a dress for Feast and Ball. These are only suggestions. You must take care to follow all the modesty dress standards required. Female students can use a bolero or formal jacket over an inappropriate dress. Shawls may NOT be used as a bolero or formal jacket. Please be especially aware of revealing cleavage as it is not appropriate.
- Dazzling Dress Rentals - By Appointment Only - (801) 808-4656, Riverton, Utah
- Modest Prom Dress Rental - (801) 489-9790, http://www.modestpromrentals.com
- http://www.modestprom.com/buyagown/stores.htm (This website has a list of stores across the Wasatch Front who sell modest prom dresses. One of the reasons we have our Feast and Ball so late in the season is so that students can buy - if they wish - at a good discount. You may need to go to the stores of your choice to look on the discount racks as the websites may not have all their dresses listed online.)
Have a great week! Paradigm High School |

Dear Paradigm Families,
Here are our announcements for the week:
- Got shop lights? Plant & Soil Science students are growing seedlings for the Paradigm garden. We are in need of 8 - 4' fluorescent shop lights ASAP to reduce the leaning and leggy growth of our seedlings. If you would like to help, please bring them to the main office. Donations are appreciated (and can go towards volunteer hours!), but we can most certainly return them to you around the first week of May if you want them back. Thank you!
- This Wednesday is Slow Jam in room #106 during lunch and Tunes at Noon this Friday under the stairs!
- Paradigm High School presents Macbeth! Performances are THIS Friday and Saturday at 7 pm and a Saturday matinee at 4 pm. Come see our students perform on a professional stage at the Rose Wagner Theater downtown. Tickets are $6.00 and can be purchased at www.arttix.org or in person at the box office. Contact Mrs. Baugh with any questions!
- There is still time to sign-up and be apart of the Student Gallery! Project proposals are due on Friday so stop by the library and see Mrs. Bateman for more information. Don'tforget -- every participant receives a $10 discount on their Feast and Ball ticket!
- Got spring? Got snow? Got YEARBOOK? There are limited number of yearbooks available. If you haven't bought one yet, then buy one now! You can reserve yours in the main office or online through the Paradigm website. We guarantee every student will be in the yearbook at least twice!
- Please return your overdue library books ASAP. Students will be receiving overdue/fine notices this week in their core class. Please turn them in before Spring Break!
- The Les Miserables Book Club will be meeting tomorrow. Come one, come all, if you're reading it or not! We will meet during lunch in the library.
- This Thursday and Friday are NO SHADOW days.
- Don't forget that all next week (April 1-5) is SPRING BREAK! Enjoy the time off!
Have a great week! |

Dear Paradigm Families,
We are excited to give you an update regarding changes to our school program for the coming 2013-2014 school year.
On February 8th, the Utah State Board of Education gave us the final approval to add 7th and 8th grades to our program. Over the years, many parents have requested we add these grades and we have worked hard to get the approval. We are excited to see Paradigm grow. [During our last board meeting, the Paradigm Governing Board met with administration to discuss and approve a plan to implement these grades for the coming year.] We hope the following information will answer many of your questions.
The new program will be called the Paradigm Preparatory School (or, Paradigm Prep for short). We will structure the enrollment to accommodate 120 new students into the preparatory program for the 2013-2014school year.
The primary purposes for these grades include:
- To specifically focus on helping students develop their character, build their identity, and discover their personal mission;
- To better prepare students for Paradigm High School by providing a solid foundation in classicaleducation and helping students become independent learners.
For a couple of years, the prep program will be facilitated in our current building; however, students in the high school and preparatory programs will not mix. Preparatory students will have a separate entrance, schedule, passing periods, and lunch time than the high school students. Also, a portion of the current building will be dedicated solely for preparatory students--no high school students allowed--and preparatory students will have their own dedicated restroom facilities. Eventually, new facilities will be built to house the preparatory program.
In addition to the precautions mentioned above and in order to help us bypass some of the toxic baggage usually associated with middle schools, most of the 7th and 8th grade students will be split into all male and female classes (Exceptions will be made for classes like social dance or other opportunities for etiquette training). Doing this will enable us to better fulfill our purpose of helping students establish their own identity.
If you have any further questions regarding the new Paradigm Preparatory School program, please contact the front office staff and they will be happy to speak with you.
Sincerely, Paradigm Administration
